Asilidae - Proctacanthus rufus

Asilidae - Proctacanthus rufus
Jacob Riis Park, Queens County, New York, USA
June 24, 2007

Moved
Moved from Proctacanthus.

I am looking at my own photos
of rufus, and the marking on the thorax, and the shape of the terminalia seem to me to match rufus, so I am moving it there (even though I notice the maps we have don't list it for New York).

Moved
Moved from Robber Flies.

Proctacanthus
I will have to check my maps at home but this must be Proctacanthus hinei. Looks too wide in the terminalia for P. rufus.

thanks for the ID
I may have specimens from nearby localities (not this one as it is a NRA) to help confirm this
