Desert stink beetle - Eleodes acuta

I just happened to see this fella crawling across the ground as I was walking by. I got in close to get a photo and it promptly switched to warning mode, pointing its abdomen at me. It was not happy and luckily I got the shot before it sprayed me.

Moved, E.acutus...
Lacks the ridge along the pronotum and elytra that E.suturalis has, and is more rotund than E.suturalis.
