Cassidinae? -
Stenopodius
Agoura Hills, Los Angeles County, California, USA
April 18, 2016
Feel like this should be an easy ID, but I can't find him. Several of these beaten out of California buckwheat, Eriogonum fascicuatum.

Looks right
thanks for looking into it. Says the host is Malvaceae which is odd. There are some planted Malacothamnus fasciculatus somewhat nearby, but that's all.
Based on
http://entomology.si.edu/coleoptera/hispines/PDFs_2015_updates/Chalepini_2015.pdf
seems our options would be limited to flavidus and submaculatus. And well, it doesn't look like flavidus on the guide.
