Nursery Web Spider - Pisaurina mira

Nursery Web Spider - Pisaurina mira
Carolina, Washington County, Rhode Island, USA
June 24, 2007
Size: very large!!!!!!
I found two of this species with egg sacs within 100 feet of each other. Both had sewn the leaves of Common Milkweed together to conceal and protect their eggs. I was surprised to see such variation in color among the two individuals. Is perhaps one male and one female?
The photos were taken with a Canon 20D, Canon 180mm Macro lens, Manfrotto tripod, Arca-Swiss Ball Head, and cable release.
