Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
Aldrich named this species Cylindromyia nigra in 1926. When he discovered that name was taken, he renamed it to Cylindromyia pusilla. That name was also taken, so Sabrosky and Arnaud renamed it to Cylindromyia propusilla.
Identification
The only northern species with abdomen mostly black, with curved white bands but no trace of red. Its range overlaps in the south with atra, which also lacks red markings.
