Butterfly Buffet

Butterfly Buffet
Deep Fork Wildlife Refuge, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, USA
June 25, 2007
As you can not upload directly to frass I will frass shortly as I can see no use to BugGuide. I just thought it was interesting. They are gathered at a large bird droping.

Butterfly Buffet
A mix of Limenitis arthemis, Polygonia interrogationis, Polygonia comma, and Asterocampa celtis.

Ok I will move it to Butterflys.

very cool photo!
I would hate to see this frassed, personally. A couple of reasons this might be valuable. It shows evidence of several species taking nourishment from bird droppings: Question Marks, Emperors (Hackberry, right?), a Red Spotted Purple, and if I'm not mistaken, at least one Eastern Comma (bottom right).

Speaking of the comma, this image is nice in that it shows both hindwing underside punctuation marks, that of the Question Mark and the Comma.

Well you have better eyes than I do. I did not even see the Hackberry.
Where would this go in the Guide?

Hackberrys
The Hackberry Emperors are the 3 grouped together in the middle right of the picture. Very interesting congregation, amen!

Hackberrys
I don't know how it posted twice, so I changed one to this. I still love the photo, though!
