, so presumably a new state record (though not surprising seeing as how it is very widespread/common; looking at the distribution map it seems RI and AK are the only states without localities).

Mite
Underneath the wings there is a mite attached to the abdomen. You can vaguely see the outline under the wings.

I didn't notice it. It's quite big for such a small fly! Too bad I didn't take a lateral shot, since it would've been neat to see.
