This Scoliid was so large that the Amsonia was bending as the wasp nectared on the blossoms.

Campsomeris on Amsonia
Thank you, John. As I look at the images with the blossoms, I believe the Campsomeris is probably 30 mm or more, given the size of the Amsonia blossoms. I added an image of the Campsomeris with its head "buried" in the blossom.

Hi Will! I saw one of these wasps yesterday foraging on Clethra alnifolia on Fort Bragg. Impressive animal.
