Assassin bug I assume, looks also like a "Kissing Bug" too? - Hoplistoscelis
Oswego, Oswego County, New York, USA
May 1, 2016
Size: About 1/3 an inch long
Hi, I believe this to be an assassin bug. I did want to ask if anyone might think it is a "kissing bug" as it does seem very similar looking. Can someone help clarify if this is an Assassin or Kissing Bug? My bet is an Assassin. Also, its prey I believe to be a black fly or buffalo gnat, is that correct? Thank you for taking the time as usual to help me out!

Nabidae: Hoplistoscelis sp.
Moved from ID Request. Prey is Chironomidae.
