Moved
Moved from ID Request.

The difficulty is that resources are not available
for the 12000 moth species caterpillars that can be found in the United States. So getting to genus or tribe is sometimes the best we can do till an expert comes along to help out. As far as imaging - dorsal, lateral, and facial are the big three images that are most important.

Our first thought was Sipramater,
but we have trouble getting a clear picture of the distinctions between it and the Lacanobia cats :(

Thank you
Thank you for your help! Is it hard to ID because my photo is unclear or because the two species are so similar? Is there any features to focus on photographing if I encounter one again?
