Sophora moth - Tallula watsoni Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida, USA March 28, 2016 Size: body length 15 mm
Several larvae found in a clump of dead leaves on necklace pod (Sophora tomentosa). The clump was bound loosely together with silk apparently produced by the larvae. Frass was evident within the clump but the dead leaves did not appear to be eaten. The larva in this image produced the adult moth previously posted. I'm wondering if this isn't a scale-eating caterpillar, possibly Baphala pallida.
