Young alder sawfly mine? Young alder sawfly mine?

This one is strange...
It doesn't look like Fenusa dohrnii, but also doesn't seem to match anything else that has been found on alder.

Check the right-hand image ..
HERE. This might be a young mine.

The problem with this mine...
is the frass. It seems to be a secondary mine, which the larva initiated by chewing in through the upper epidermis, leaving a little bit of frass on top of the leaf as it did so. Nothing in the tribe Fenusini is able to do this. Maybe it's an illusion, but also notice how the frass in the Fenusa dohrnii mines is in discrete, oblong pellets, whereas in this mine it's mostly in a compact mass.
