Beetle - Meloe angusticollis

Size: 38 mm including antennae
Found this morning in the forest floor detritus at lat 45.32 x long -75.72. Given the size of the abdomen, perhaps it is a queen. I know you prefer natural pictures without rulers, but one of us brought it home from his morning walk because he didn't have his camera.
