Tisheria/Coptotriche mediostriata?? - Batia lunaris

Tisheria/Coptotriche mediostriata?? - Batia lunaris
Beaverton, Washington County, Oregon, USA
July 4, 2009
Long time lurker, first time poster. Attempted due diligence here and on MPG, but the best I could come up with was the T./C. mediostriata, and to the eye, the match wasn't fully convincing - my specimens have a more significant dark patch. I've included three different perspectives, not all the same individual, but all captured at the same time and place.

Moved
Moved from Frass. I don't think this needed to be frassed. The background is unusual for sure but otherwise these are nice pictures of a species without too many photos in the guide. It's only the second submission from Oregon and a first for Oregon in July. By the way, four images is just fine for your other post given how few photos we have of it. However, I unlinked them, as only pictures of the same individual should be linked. I left the two 2013 images linked under the assumption that they're the same individual. If not, please unlink them. Welcome to BugGuide!

Frassed
Moved from ID Request.

Batia lunaris
This looks to be Batia lunaris (Oecophoridae). It is indeed colored similarly to some of the oak-feeding tischeriids, so it is easy to see how someone could wind up at Tischeriidae when trying to ID it. Probably the most conspicuous traits that diagnose Gelechioidea for this moth are the smooth head vestiture and the long upturned labial palpi...both rather subtle unless you have representatives of Coptotriche and Batia in hand, side by side, for comparison.
