Silphium Weevil - Haplorhynchites aeneus
Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary, Cook County, Illinois, USA

Size: 8mm
These guys were found on Silphium integrifolium. They would cut the stem and feed in the dieing flower head/leaves. From what I can find online, it may be a Haplorhincites aeneus. Anyone familiar with this species?
