Large black and white moth - Sphinx perelegans

Large black and white moth - Sphinx perelegans
Lake Isabella vicinity, Kern County, California, USA
May 15, 2016
Size: ~6 cm
Head markings reminded me of a badger, couldn't discern antennae. Didn't seem particularly drawn to light.
