Prairie Yellowjacket - Vespula atropilosa - female

Prairie Yellowjacket - Vespula atropilosa - Female
2 km SE of Fairy Hill marsh, Saskatchewan, Canada
May 19, 2016
Sorry was only able to get one photo of this before it flew away, and this was highly zoomed in from about 10' away.
Note: this pasture is grazing land for cows and horses. Crocuses grow well here as do prairie wildflowers. The land is privately owned, I enter with another person who has obtained permission for the two of us to be on it. Nearby land is Crown land as well as other privately owned land.

second record
oh my! Ok, I will definitely have to get back there and continue to photograph all insects, and soon. Awesome! Thank you.

Nice find!
It's also by far the easternmost record of this species in Canada. Keep up the good work!

Thank you Matthias.:-)
