Speckle-winged Rangeland Grasshopper (Arphia conspersa) - Arphia conspersa - male

Speckle-winged Rangeland Grasshopper (Arphia conspersa) - Arphia conspersa - Male
2 km SE of Fairy Hill marsh, Saskatchewan, Canada
May 19, 2016
Not sure how many kinds of Red-winged Grasshoppers there are, and I added one from the other year in the fall, but this was as close as I could get to these, there were quite a few here. Cattle grazing field. They buzz and have red wings when flying, however the Info tab for Red-winged Grasshoppers have a common name related to the Autumn, with comments that it's more common then, so I take it to be less common in spring? at any rate, due to the above I didn't want to assume it's a Red-winged Grasshopper, thus the ID request. Thank you.

yes - Arphia consersa
Closely related to Red-winged, but found as adults earlier in the year.

Moved from Band-winged Grasshoppers.

ah yes! and I see you gave me some good comments on previous ones I'd found in the spring. (that should have been a clue eh) :) Thank you again Mr Ferguson.

Moved, Arphia conspersa looks like a good possibility
