Skinny Walkingstick - Emesaya brevipennis

Skinny Walkingstick - Emesaya brevipennis
Tracys Landing, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
September 30, 2014
Walking along the roof of our breezeway in the afternoon. Perhaps a Diapheromera sp. or a Manomera sp? Long antennae that can bend at almost halfway between the head and the end, but at rest they just gently curve downward. Skinny legs have two black bands on the femur and one on the tibia close to the joint. The front legs were either extended up front or in a praying formation. It was capable of hanging upside down without using its front legs which seemed more capable. I will post a another picture too.

subfamily emesinae. Perhaps Emesaya brevipennis.

Could you add the state please? Pretty sure it's MD, but didn't want to put that in if not true

I added the state which is Maryland.
That makes so much more sense. This location in our breezeway would be paradise for an it as we have light that remains on until about 11:00pm which attracts all sorts of creatures, many of whom just stay there until the next night. Easy food.
