Long-horned Beetle - Elytrimitatrix undata

Long-horned Beetle - Elytrimitatrix undata
Bellevue, Sarpy County, Nebraska, USA
June 28, 2007
Size: 1"
Photographed on our deck last night. Large, gray long-horned beetle. Checked guide but could not find one that looked like it. Any help with ID appreciated.

Thanks,

Loren and Babs Padelford
Bellevue, NE

A cerambycid beetle...
...Distenia undata.

Thanks Ted!
We appreciate your help with ID. Do you know what the larvae eat? Assuming this is a boring beetle.

Thanks,

Loren Padelford
Bellevue, NE

Not boring at all...
...I find them very interesting ;-) Yes, the larvae bore in dead wood - they've been reared from a variety of hardwood species.
