Beehive - Apis mellifera

Beehive - Apis mellifera
Tonopah, Arizona, USA
June 29, 2014
Is this still Apis mellifera, or does the hive structure indicate something different? I think the structure alone is beautiful and worth sharing.

Moved from ID Request.

Beehive
That is really beautiful. Where did the bees build it? Is the hive in a rocky crevice in the desert, or are the bees in a wooded area?

Yes,
it is on a desert cliff at about 30' or higher.

Beehive
What a find. Fantastic picture.

Thank you!
