Stenacron
it is without a doubt a Stenacron Carolina. In my 5 year study of this genus i did uncover many new unknown features. All though both Jeff Webb and Luke agree with it they will still need to test things themselves before science will state they believe in a principal. The underside of a Stenacron head capsules it's diaphragm is incomplete at the furthest areas where they met up with the labrums lateral ligaments. on the top of the head capsule membrane where it is an intracal part of the innermost part of the interior area of the head capsule. in this area all the maculations colors are in place for the next molt but are much paler in the blackish tones. the area you have maked is referred as the central median ocelli spot. On Caroline and four other forms it is also somewhat T shaped. However on Carolina only it extends almost to the frontal margin by the protruding dorsal labrum.

When posting photos of Stenacron it is better to post with combination of odd details (EXP) your sample has a very important feature that no other Stenacron have-----it has an almost completely yellow tenth tergite, next and most important is the 9th sublateral projection on the 9th tergite is much longer than the 8th.

On your photo commened on the arrow marking state it is two times the base width. I would use great caution on that and i will tell you why.

the size and shape of the pale spot is subject to sexuality. they differ in width and length in the male and female. I can tell just by the head shot that this sample is in fact female. wow can I tell that? easy first the head capsule is very narrow and wider than the pronotum. males have a head shape more like a frisbee. the other features are the eyes. on a male sample the lateral ocelli are much closer to the median ocelli. next the compound eyes of the male are much larger often leaving a large less maculated area from the edge of the eye to the lateral border.
