Yellow-lined Chocolate - Argyrostrotis flavistriaria

Yellow-lined Chocolate - Argyrostrotis flavistriaria
Cumberland County, North Carolina, USA
July 27, 2004

An Interesting Problem......
You had a different moth identified a short while ago, also as A. flavistriaria, but it had two prominent lines. Also, the pm. line did not curve toward the apex. Much earlier Patrick Coin had a moth much like yours identified as A. flavistriaria (below). I doubt that these are all the same species. I'm going to send all three photos to two or more referees to see if there is a consensus regarding their identification.

Southern Ptichodes
The two-lined moth turns out to be the Southern Ptichodes, 8751 - Ptichodes bistrigata. Both of the darker one-lined moths are correctly identified.

Yes
I saw that today. I guessed on this photo...based on the other flavistriaria in the guide. I moved the two-lined one out of the mix...because I thought it must be in the wrong place, now I'm just confused. :)
