Ceanothia essigi - female

Ceanothia essigi - Female
Pine Mountain Ridge, Ventura County, California, USA
May 29, 2016
Size: ~3mm
Found on chaparral whitethorn (Ceanothus leucodermis). I saw 3, but this was the only one I could get good shots of. The other two consisted of a mating pair. All of these were seen on the stems where the looked like the blackish stipules. I could not get a photo, but the ovipositor on these was short. Rolled leaves containing nymphs were present on the same plant. Also present on the same plant were Euglyptoneura minuta and nymphs in fluff shelters. I suspect the fluff shelter nymphs were Euglyptoneura robusta.
