6079 – Dysodia granulata or occulata? - Dysodia
Schulenburg, Fayette County, Texas, USA
June 2, 2016
Usually seen West and South of here. I realize that occulata is not supposed to be in Texas, but all of the Lep Society database reports are all from Medina west and south to the Mexican border.

Have you collected this species?
BOLD has nothing barcoded from the Edwards Plateau. Dysodia from AZ, LRGV, and E. US are all well-separated from each other by barcode. The type locality of granulata is the Huachucas, so the LRGV species seems to be undescribed. I have to wonder whether the Edwards Plateau has an undescribed species of its own rather than granulata.

.
Aaron, please see the two that I just posted to Genus. They are quite different. I had not focused on this Genus and hope I see some more soon. They are not terribly common at our place. I will try to get some to barcode. Very interesting. I think Texas must have a number of Arizona look alikes that bar code differently. I had forgotten about the ones I questioned and may post some more.
