Soldier Beetle? - Cantharis rufa - female

Soldier Beetle? - Cantharis rufa - Female
47.630454N 52.687412W (WGS84), Logy Bay, Northeast Avalon, Newfoundland/Labrador, Canada
July 1, 2007
Size: 12mm Body Length
I think this is a soldier beetle given the lead that john and jane balaban gave me in response to another soldier beetle that I posted recently:
Guessing Suborder Heteroptera?
The most recent one and the previous one are similar but not identical.  I've looked through all the soldier beetles but can't find any that match either of the two that I've photographed.  Cantharis and Rhagonycha fulva seem close but neither is a match  Any thoughts?

The specimen here is a female; I can´t tell for the other one.

Thanks
Thank you. I've marked it as female and moved it as you indicated.

Cantharidae
I have also a similar unknown cantharid in the same large area (french St-Pierre island more precisely) on July 14th but with a darker "W" drawing that yours.

I could call it "Batbeetle" but it doesn't sound scientific !

Hi Pascal
Nice to see that Miquelon has bugs similar to mine here in Newfoundland. I know the BugGuide mandate says that it's for Canada and the US only but since Saint-Pierre et Miquelon is very much a part of North America, I think your bug photos ought to be of interest too. Given the proximity of your island to mine, any bugs you have are bound to be here and vice versa. I wonder what the BugGuide Editors might have to say about including bugs from Saint-Pierre et Miquelon. I suspect most North Americans don't even know that France has a Department in North America.

Hi Mardon
You are true, bugs don't know political borders ! The 10 miles of water between St-Pierre et Miquelon and Lamaline could be an obstacle for certains but not for all; It is not rare to meet butterflies when at see for example. And bugs take the boat also !

I didn't ask me any question when I subscribed to this amazing site (I am not the first one from St-Pierre). I Guess also that editors will not see any inconvenience...
