I updated the Nematus ventralis page with a lot more info. Krombein, et al. 1975(1) in vol 1 places Nematus ventralis in the ventralis species group which includes an additional 7 species of which at least 4 are known to feed on Salix. Not sure these larvae can be identified to species. It might make more sense to make a species group. A couple of them feed on Populus. There is a photo of one of them, N. hudsoniimagnus, here, which aside from pale legs is very similar.
