These were abundant today, I'm not sure of the ID though

Female Golden-winged?
This is likely a female of whatever your male was. I think Yellow-sided would show even darker wingtips and, more importantly, a dark costal vein. The costal vein being noticeably pale for it's whole length I think is good for Golden-winged Skimmer. Did you get any shots of the thorax from a lateral view?

Taking a closer look at this one, too, I still think it's a female Golden-winged Skimmer. Yellow-sided definitely has a black costa. This has an evenly pale costa and three paranal cells.
