European Sklpper - Thymelicus lineola - female

European Sklpper - Thymelicus lineola - Female
Dearborn, Dearborn County, Michigan, USA
June 11, 2016
Cannot be sure which skipper this is. Thought it was a European but the antennae are wrong. Possibly a Dion or Least?

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

European skipper female
Both Least and European lack curved tip (apiculus) at end of antennal clubs whereas other skippers such as Dion have curved apiculi. The angle of the image as well as species variation can affect apparent antennae shaft length. This specimens antennae are within length variation for European. The antennal shaft pattern in European is either pale orange or white with black rings.
This specimen has rounded face with short palps and lacks strong black marginal edge of apical forewing as with Least. Wings and abdomen shape are characteristic of European skipper.
