Cedar Bark Beetle - Rhyncolus brunneus

Cedar Bark Beetle - Rhyncolus brunneus
Sitka County, Alaska, USA
Unfortunately, I didn't get a very good photo, but I'm hoping I can get a little help with this beetle. It was working on a Yellow Cedar (Chamaecyparis nootkatensis). I don't remember the size for sure, but I think it was no more than 1cm.

Known from Alaska
In fact, Rhyncolus brunneus is apparently the only species in the genus known from Alaska, or at least this was the case when the 1991 checklist of beetles in Canada and Alaska was done. However, there are an additional 5 species known from British Columbia, so I'm a little hesitant to just assume that it it's Rhyncolus brunneus on the basis of Geography (Sitka, in Southeast Alaska almost certainly shares more in common with British Columbia than the rest of Alaska outside of southeast).
