This was the only shot I was able to get of this fly which landed on a leaf near me but took off shortly after this one photo.

Very nice image
of
Chrysops mitis
, female. Better than my image in the Guide as yours shows the whiteish band on the wing outside of the black band. It is always there but shows up only at certain angles.
