Specific epithet from the host plant genus (Osmunda).

Size

Wingspan 12 mm. (1)

Range

Records from the eastern United States and southeastern Canada. (3)

Type locality: Orono, ME (Mr. A. Allen, found feeding on Osmunda regalis, emerged July 1, 1879).

Food

Larvae are leaf tiers on:

great ragweed (Ambrosia trifida) (4)

western brackenfern (Pteridium aquilinum). (4)

cinnamon fern (Osmunda cinnamomea) (4)

royal fern (Osmunda regalis) (1)
