Robber Fly - Laphria - female

Robber Fly - Laphria - Female
Near Bear Mountain, Rockland County, New York, USA
July 2, 2007
Does the all black facial hair make this more likely to be Laphria aktis than L. sericea? There are some expert comments that indicate this, but it is not clear to me.

Laphria
This pair is difficult. But if the facial hair (mystax and beard) have a lot of golden and perhaps even minor amounts then it is sericea. The problem is they can have virtually none in that species. The sericea female also has golden hair on the posterior pronotum and the seventh segment of the abdomen is mostly golden haired in sericea and black in aktis.
