black damsel bug - Nabis subcoleoptratus

black damsel bug - Nabis subcoleoptratus
London, Ontario, Canada
June 29, 2004
Size: about 7 mm
On goldenrod in damp meadow. Most references show or discuss N. subcoleoptrata, apparently the most common species, but I haven't seen images of the five others listed on the Nearctica site, so can't be sure of this one. Nabicula species normally have tiny wings, as shown; an image of the rare large-winged form is on the Cedar Creek site (down since yesterday).
