Beetle boring on residential Sycamore - Harmonia axyridis

Beetle boring on residential Sycamore - Harmonia axyridis
Tustin, Orange County, California, USA
June 19, 2016
Size: 4mm - 6mm
Many on both the loose bark and yellowish outer wood of this 50' tall Sycamore. The insects are as high up as I can see.
None seem to be moving about - all have their heads embedded.

Moved, Harmonia axyridis (pupa)
not boring in, just sitting there

Moved from ID Request.
