Quite large for a mite, maybe the size of a dog tick.

Judging by its body shape it looks to be trombidium. And the only trombidium species in New York is Trombidium Aurourensae so its that

Another may be able to take to Genus, but species level is not usually possible from most photos. The large size may help narrow.
