The light-coloured veins in the basal dark patch on the hindwings suggests Leucorrhinia hudsonica to me. Venation fits.

abdominal spots on this individual look much too big for frosted.

amber basal spots on wings?
I have read that frigida should have amber basal spots on the wings. Is this an error?

I remember this one was very
I remember this one was very small, and the abdominal spots are virtually identical to the picture of the female in A Field Guide to the Dragonflies and Damselflies of Massachusetts (1).

on S4 and S5 suggest Dot-tailed

 
Leucorrhinia
Leucorrhinia hudsonica has lateral stripes too and the light- coloured veins in the dark basal patch of the hindwings suggests Leucorrhinia hudsonica to me.

 
Incorrect
L. hudsonica females have a small lateral spot on S4 and a smaller spot on S5. If you don't believe it, take it up with Dennis Paulson :-) (author of 2 field guides for N. America)
