Aglossa baba

Aglossa baba
Davis Mountains (private ranch), Jeff Davis County, Texas, USA
June 5, 2016
Size: FW 10.5 mm.
I thought this might be a worn Pyralid, but it appears to be a very good match to some of the BOLD specimens for this taxon which is known to occur in the Trans-Pecos of Texas (with records from Brewster, Culberson, and Jeff Davis Co.). MPG has no image of the species and shows no Texas records.

The original description is listed as "Dyar 1914". Dyar published at least three articles in the Proc. U.S. Nat. Mus. in 1914 comprising over 270 pages of species lists and descriptions. I've paged through the Biodiversity Heritage Library imagery of this issue in vain looking for that original description; perhaps it's not even in that publication. If anyone can point me to a more specific reference, I'd very much appreciate it.

Dyar 1914 found
I've added information to the species page from Dyar's original description, published in "Insecutor Inscitiae Menstruus" Vol. 2, issue 11, p. 164.
