2 beetles - Chrysomela knabi

2 beetles - Chrysomela knabi
Boulder, Bobolink Trail, Boulder County, Colorado, USA
June 24, 2016
Munching on a leaf of a willow sapling. I do not know whether they are the same species as another I just submitted; they look different to my untutored eye. The one on the right has a sort of gossamer thread coming off its wing; is that real?

Chrysomela knabi?
TYVM! But do you not agree with Chris Mallory that it is C. knabi?

Chrysomela knabi?
I reckon all of your recent posts are the same species. Compare:

Freshly emerged:

mature adult:

larva:

The host plant is willow

3 generations
Splendid, many thanks! It seems that there were 3 generations, at least figuratively, on the same plant (which was indeed a willow, but I do not know what species). Evidently they "grow" more spots with age. I was sorry to learn that the larva was not something from outer space.
