heroicus vs. californicus?
What exactly are the specific ID criteria to separate californicus from heroicus? I see lots of them ID'd to species here on BG, but never any solid justification notes.

My justification notes:
Dr. Steven Lingafelter, world authority on Cerambycidae, determined both of my entries for P. californicus and P. heroicus. I didn't ask for quotes and details about how he arrived to his species identifications. He was kind enough with his time and expertise and I just didn't want to abuse his generosity by asking for quotes. The situation you are pointing out applies to a lot of species posted, not only to these two beetles.
