Truly a bad luck swallowtail!
Looks like a series of bird bites on the right wing, unless some kind of plant material is in the way. Amazing how a fly that small can bring down an insect so large.

It was very quick
I saw the Swallowtail on some Woolly Thistle. It flew off right away and a few seconds later I heard something fall on the ground behind me and this is what I saw. The wind was so bad that the Robber Fly had to stretch to keep the wings of the Swallowtail down as seen in the first picture.
