Unusual beetle, or is it a slug? - Prolimacodes badia

Unusual beetle, or is it a slug? - Prolimacodes badia
Sumter, Sumter County, South Carolina, USA
June 28, 2016
Size: close to a half dollar
This was sitting on top of my van this morning. Just a couple weeks ago I found another bug with a smiliar shape, but a 1/3 of the size and completely green. The top exterior felt hard, but not like a shell. I'm sure if someone squeezed it that it may break. It has no legs and I could watch it use its underbelly to slither along my windshield. If you look at the bottom left, you can actually see the bugs head. Anyone that can identify this critter would be awesome! Thanks in advance!
