Cherry-faced Meadowhawk - Sympetrum internum - male

Cherry-faced Meadowhawk - Sympetrum internum - Male
Ponkapoag Bog, Canton, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA
June 27, 2016
A lateral view of the hamuli, showing a ventromedial hook that is a bit shorter than would be expected on S. rubicundulum. This is a pretty difficult and possibly subjective field mark, though. The more reliable way to identify the two species by their hamuli is via a ventral view, as seen in the other photo of this record.
