I was in my yard watering plants and felt a pinch on my calf as I was wearing shorts because it was 95 degrees . I thought , at first , that it was a mosquito but as I looked at the perpetrator ... I realized it was a juvenile Lacewing . I was quite appalled as I did not know that they can bite people . I grabbed the little fellow and as I did , 2 drops of blood oozed from his fangs ... really, I was shocked too ! I ran in and got my camera to take a photo and only got 3 shots before he fell into the plants free . Has this ever happened to anyone else ? I still am an avid bug-enthusiast , sincerely Beth

It's not at all uncommon...
...for lacewing larvae to "taste" people. :)

Thanks so much for the swift reply ! I feel better knowing that it is not uncommon to be bit by innocent insects ( though when you look closely at the fangs ....) He has so many other victims to attack which are his own size so I was stumped as to why he would just bite me , and oweee. Thanks again , sincerely Beth
