Makes us think rather of Syrphidae
maybe something like

one of the diptera specialists should be able to be more certain

I moved the pic to diptera. After looking at a few hundred Syrphidae, I realized the eyes are rather different. I've not found a match in Syrphidae, but still looking. thanks
