ovipositing - Megischus texanus - Female
Austin, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Travis County, Texas, USA
June 30, 2016
There were several males hanging around some upright dead small tree trunks with tiny round holes (presumably made by wood-boring beetles). The dead trunks, which have been there for 2 or 3 years, were tied to metal poles as sort of a decoration in a garden. Some searching revealed this female as well. She was pretty easy to approach, but once she finished after several minutes, she slipped behind the wood and stayed hidden.
