broad, flat fungus rove - Megarthrus

broad, flat fungus rove - Megarthrus
Mt. Washington, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
June 30, 2007
Size: about 2.1 mm
I found a couple of these dark little long-elytra roves under (above actually) the crusty spore-bearing layer on the underside of a soft conk-like fungus growing from a small deciduous log or branch. This find was one of the many collateral benefits in my Forest Service-approved search for Py*tho str*ictus.
