What orange caterpillars are on this milkweed? - Saucrobotys futilalis

Size: 1/2" possibly maybe less.
Found these social caterpillars in a wild habitat/field. I'm rather certain that's milkweed they are on. Could it be dogbane instead? I raise monarchs, swallowtails, some silk moths and thought I was familiar with milkweed cats. Any info appreciated.
