Size: about an inch long
I found this bug on cantaloupe I'm growing in my vegetable garden. Last year I found him on a zucchini plant. Both times, I only found one of them in late afternoon. He doesn't move at all. I didn't notice any damage to the plants from him. I've only noticed him in early summer and not thereafter.

Signs...
You may not notice anything since the larvae damage the stems of the plant by their tunneling, rather than the fruit itself - something to keep an eye on.

Squash Vine Borer…
Their larvae may feed on your cantaloupe.
