tiny conk beetles - Henotiderus centromaculatus

tiny conk beetles - Henotiderus centromaculatus
Mt. Washington, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
July 4, 2007
Size: about 2 mm
I found two of these colorful little silken fungus beetles on the underside of a hard conk along with two or three other small members of family crytophagidea. I see Tom has already encountered this species, allowing an easy ID for me :-)

This find was one of the many collateral benefits in my Forest Service-approved search for Py*tho str*ictus.
